Fastest Bass Boats of yesteryear and today.....

I know this site leans more towards boats that are built basically for high performance racing, skiing, etc etc but I have a love for the fast bass boats that have been produced over the years. So I thought I would start this thread and see how many of you know what bass rigs out there of today and yesteryear that would really haul the mail.
I'll get started with a few of my favorite "sleeper bass boats"
Remember the Skeeter Wrangler....strap on a 140 and break 60 with some setup time pretty easy.
Or how about the Venture V17,V18,or the V19.....any of these could break mid 60's REAL easy.
Dont forget the Procraft....they built 2 rocket bassers...the 1750 (or 1780 ...I always get that number cornfused)....with a 2.0 mid to high 60's was real easy.
Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss
    Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet

my old man had a starfire skeeter,1984 if i remember.had a 200 looper dressed up like a 150 with a hand tuned pendergrass prop(26 p ?).i have heard these boats refered to as "widowmaker",and can remember a very hairy 72mph ride in it on more than one occasion.real serious chine walk but boy was it fast for a 18ft bass boat!

my last boat, which lead me into my current speeder that im already wanting to go faster! lol. my last boat was a 1984 kingfisher 15v. the original owner had the transom rebuilt to hold a 125 1984 force. he told me he got it into the mid60's brand new. the adds said the boat hull weight was only 700lbs. The only thing i did to the motor was regular maintenance and replace the header gasket. sold it to a friend and he rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump. said he was able to push it to 60mph! and this was with one of those heavy cmc hydraulic trim units because the motor had lost its years ago. plus the props were not right for that boat because you had to use multiple washers for it to put it on.
1984 17vee Bullet w/1985 Johnson 150gt (bob's nose cone, hydrodynamics custom 8in. jackplate, custom skid plate and foil, and 26p trophy plus) currently 70mph tournament loaded.

I've got a Hydrostream Varmint which I'm sure is the fastest bass boat on my lake right now. When I do the tournament I'm always the first one to the best fishing spot although it doesn't actually help me catch the fish. It's actually a great boat to fish from too. It was way ahead of it's time.

Rajin Cagun 16'8" with a GT150 =70 mph. Same for the Champion and Charger 16'8" boats, they were all just about the same hull.

Who can forget the Ranger 340V. With a 150 and light it will touch 75MPH. Put a 200 on it and it will just about kill you.

    Hydra sports X270 VL270. Both 70 mph boats with GT150s. I rode in a 600 lbs. all Kevlar X270 with a Merc 2.4 200 at 85+

Laser LTV Basser, 75 set up right. Saw many with 2.4 EFI bridgeports running well over 90.

Stratos 180VT Rocket. 68 mph loaded to fish with a GT150.

No fast bass boat thread would be complete without mentioning of course Allison. Some folks say they are the fastest but I have seen a few Bullets,Strokers, and Norriscrafts that would give an ally a run for there money.
Gamblers setup right would make ya sit-up and take notice.
And let's not forget one of my favorites ...a Laser be it a padded V or an LTV model. Strap on a 150-200 and would put most boats on the trailer with there tails tucked.
Someone already mentioned the Champion. There "mean 17" was a very quick one
Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss
    Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet

I agree with the Allison XB2002 ...... It's my favorite, but.....
Back in the day, mid 70's or so, I loved the Skeeter Wrangler HP120 with a 115 OMC on it!
We turned a modified 21" pitch SST 6K-6100 rpm and ran 60-61 mph...... with a 115!!!!!!!
It was a fun boat to drive.
    Thanks,
    Tim Bostic

im about to get some 'GT' carbs for mine i think it'll really do some damage after that.
1984 17vee Bullet w/1985 Johnson 150gt (bob's nose cone, hydrodynamics custom 8in. jackplate, custom skid plate and foil, and 26p trophy plus) currently 70mph tournament loaded.

You should go see Paul Nichols over in Soddy Daisy and let him help you set that boat up.
