You're right, S. FL is even worse than Central or Northern FL. Miami Dade is virtually impossible unless you have stupid deep pockets. Not sure about the Keys but it wouldn't surprise me if you can't get insurance.

If you find someone to write policy for you it will probably cost you close to $3000 / year. This is why I sold my Euro.

I can almost guarantee that not to be true under your HO policy......You would ONLY have coverage if the boat is enclosed within a covered structure and subject to scheduled limits.....Just letting you know, there is NO coverage under your HO policy if your boat is in your yard or driveway. (This includes theft)

And since everyone thinks they are experts online, I will admit I'm a property claims specialist for an insurance company.

Well foremost insurance said they would cover it, BUT they said 77$ a month that's just a quote until they get the specs and serial number of the boat and the engine.. so I'm thinking it'll be around 250$ a month for insurance...

It's not required since I'll own the boat out-right but it's just good to have liability so I don't get sued lol

$3,000 is crazy!! Granted your euro goes a lot faster than my Superboat but I don't pay anywhere near that amount. I have my 21' SB in the 75mph bracket.

I'm at about $100/month on a new SEB Talon 22 with trailer rated at 100 mph in Central FL including up to 75 miles offshore, which it will never see, but they don't write inland lakes and rivers policies in FL so it's required. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Seems like the insurance problem is real perhaps one of the most posted topic. My opinion on the need for insurance in south Fl is you got to have it. The water lice(jet skies) are a royal pain in the arse. I have had close calls about 5 times over the last year. Good luck on your hunt for insurance.

Wakezoneinsurance.com pass on my viper, just got the email back. She said they do not have a market for this type of vessel any longer. I am not surprised or upset, I would not insure it either!

Foremost Insurance will insure your boat. Try them out and PM what they quote you on?

How are you guys establishing a value for these boats? I bought a boat of which only a handful were built. So they have no basis for a value on it, only what I said it is worth. I just started the insurance process as I just bought mine and have been putting a lot of time and money into it. But at the end of the day they'll just come back and say it is a 1991 no-name brand flats boat worth x amount of dollars. And I know pretty much what it is worth if I were to sell. Would a survey help? I am in Miami, so insurance ain't easy to begin with.
