It wasn't just the USA that sat back on their laurels and buried their heads. The minute the first Honda moped was imported the British motor cycle industry was doomed. They should have bought a ticket to Tokyo and seen how the world was progressing. Same thing in the automobile industry, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart were making progress and developing while in England we could sell all the stuff we could make and thought it would go on forever!!!!! We didn't cry "FOUL" or UNFAIR for 3 years by which time all the companies had died of old age and stagnation. Same thing in aircraft and electronics.

Interesting Britain really stepped on the turd pie when they didn't figure out the square windows on the first commercial jet the Comet was causing them to drop out of the sky due to stress cracks and so forth. At that time in the early to mid 50's they had the lead over everyone including Boeing. It was a sweet looking plane.

I don't know if dealers gave them away, but they were for sale. The problem with that promo was that the model was supposed to be a copy of Sirois' 1970 winning twin. They made the model available in 1972 and it was a single.....talk about " a day late and a dollar short", they missed the mark on that one!

Interesting....cost cutting to manufacture it with only one motor Wonder who made them ??

Oshkosh was always a strange place, with weird and mysterious happenings going on, specially at "Judy's". Is "The Left Field" still there? Was run by a couple of retired 'Packers'

There were a couple of places called The Left Guard & The Right Guard.....but they were in Green Bay. They were owned by Jerry Kramer & Fuzzy Thurston, the starting offensive guards for the Packers.....America's Team!

Wasn't Bill Sirois involved with Zonkercraft as well?

Far as I know, it was Gagen, Peacock & Martin. They did have sponsorship from Screaming Yellow Zonkers. I remember those little bitty, teeny weeny yellow outfits Mary & Meg used to wear at the races and remember them handing out boxes of Zonker treats. I don't know what kind of a treat the Screaming Yellow Zonker actually was, never had the courage to try one.

I have one of the little "up up and away" boats. Was one of my Christmas presents under the tree when I was nine I think. First thing I asked, "where is the other engine?" On the bottom of mine it says... Made by K&B Manufacturing. K&B was in Lake Havasu City for many years before moving to California. Still a cool collector item because I think they were made in very limited numbers. Each dealer was limited to only a few and you figure many dealers never bothered to order them. I'll tell you what they did get right on the toy boat... the sponsons. Got those rocker sponsons just like the real one!

That's pretty amazing.....this group can cover anything! It doesn't matter if it's a one of a kind secret engine that ran once in some far away place or a little model boat or just a box of Cracker Jacks.....someone will have some information about the topic at hand and maybe even a picture or two, WOW!
