Brakes were banned forever after a close fought duel between Renato and Cees at Chasewater towards the end of 76 [i think] , they came to the second pit turn with Moli just in the lead, both were really loose, Renato dropped the brake, then all hell broke out, his boat just exploded !!!!!!!! the biggest piece left was 12" by !0" pece of transom. Nobody was sure if Cees hadn't gone through him. But only pride was hurt that day.

    Renato Chasewater

Jackie: It was 1978, don't you remember Princess Ann or Margret was there. Brian Dewey took these photos. Who are those two good looking guys in the Mercury jackets?

Jackie: at your age you may not remember these guys (and girl) but give it a shot.

Nope still no shots of you Jackie. I guess I will have to really dig deep.

I remember Chasewater a little different than you. I thought Renato had it in the bag, won the first two heats, until he hit the brakes in the third. Didn't Billy take three seconds and a first to win it, throwing out one second? I thought Hering won one heat as well but either broke or finished further down in the other heats. Memories do fade.

    Maybe it was Princess Anne-Margret????

Mike: I see you in the picture, but what was Ziggy Stardust doing in the lower left hand corner?

Can't remember who is driving the #25.....from there clockwise you have Jim Merten winning the Miami 225 in 1970, Bob Hering, Kenny Kitson and Bill Petty. Those shots were also from about 1970.

If you do look for shots of Jackie, please try to find some of him wearing his helmet with the tinted visor is down.....no reason to scare the visitors to this thread.

A very wholesome looking Gary Peacock on the left (he was never that clean ) and Billy Seebold at what looks like the Morgan City 225 in 1970.

Don't forget, "covered" shots of Wilson please.

Gary was very clean cut until he started racing for Mercury, or at least thru 1963..he even had really short hair..but was a little on the wild side..He was always a lot of fun..His older brother Pete was a really nice guy, and raced a Power Cat with Merc 800's..but died way too young..I heard from self abuse of types..They come from an old Miami founding family..

number2 is Jenks [the welsh mouth] with Roz [nipples] Knott and a really laid back cool dude in a Carnaby Street outfit of the period,
number 3 i would hazard a guess at Rouen [3 drivers and it's the only place the French ever won anything] Parky And M.B.
