Truth is Jackie, my 28 foot Skater ran 122 and that's a pleasure boat!!!!
The wing feels more stable at 110 (so far) than the Skater did, but can't take anywhere near the choppy water or swells the Skater likes to play in. The Shadow and Conquest Offshore Cats we built ran like busses at well over 100 too, but they were much bigger and heavier hulls, so scale speed was commensurately lower. I have to keep reminding myself that most wings raced at speeds between and 75 and 95 or so and this is somewhat uncharted territory although the kilo speeds of 120 set way back when are real indicators of the true potential.
Special thanks again to John Sherlock, without whom this project would not have happened.20 Foot Switzer Wing 2 X S3000 (Dust'n the Wind II)

So what sort of HP you pulling to run a 28' Skater at 122MPH ??
the wing runs 110MPH with i would guess around 450-----500 HP
The COSWORTH ran 125 using 400HP----but i ran out of boat long before i ran out of motor.
Never got into Offshore, but my grandson won 3 world titles with a 42' Reggie-ship,---he had 1200 hp and would run 125 in comfort.

My skater had twin 300x's (330 hp each).
Jackie: I have never given the wing full throttle and never will.... (twin 375's). She is running 110 at 6500 Rpm and the engines' peak RPM is 10,200. That boat is in a whole 'nuther solar system of power/weight ratio and speed potential.
The fastest Offshore cats we built back in the day were in the 140 mph range (Jesse James 4 engine 48' Superboat) but today some of our old Shadows are pulling speeds over 150.20 Foot Switzer Wing 2 X S3000 (Dust'n the Wind II)

Je Concur, John. I agree, The OFF are a great bunch of guys in the main, And i too got crapped on from a dizzy height by MM, But i also made a good living from the product so it balances out.
Willa is gonna get really pissed at me for mentioning this----'cos it has absolutely NOTHING to do with "Hot Singles" but i have been commissioned to do a sculpture of the American Air Force Museum in Duxford. Which is just a most beautiful building designed by Sir Norman Foster and built by a mate of mine called Nigel Warnes. Nigel asked me to do the piece as he does not have anything to remind him of his achievement. I know that Seeroy and Charlie flew some of the planes that are in there. The upshot of all this dribble is that i have had great difficulty in not just doing a copy of this building --but doing it to my own imagination. I am currently on the 7th attempt and this is the way its going to go . I will stick it on a site somewhere as it gets near fruition ------------------IFFFFFFFF anyone is interested. Oh yes the stealth Blackbird is perched on top. Just tell me to get of'n your site WILLA if i'm trespassing.

I will try to come for this gig next year with the Allison/Chrysler stacker. I'm getting to be sort of an "OF" too so I might as well hitch it up and join the rest of the gray haired boat racing nuts.

Rich - Congratulations on your "unlope"! I've been meaning to mention somthing to you for awhile and just didn't get around to it. I watched the videos of your runs at OFF several times in very slow motion and noticed that, on every "lope", the left sponson came back down ahead of the right sponson. I don't know if that indicates an actual configuration differential or simply a weight differential. It seems logical that, since you sit in the left sponson, it is a weight differential. I don't know if that is significant, but if it is, I'm sorry I didn't pass that along sooner. Best Regards - Steve

Rich, I am happy to realise that you ran out of boat too.
I had 10,000 available right there at the pedal and could never use it 'cos the damn boat got so loose at 8,400. Seebold tried the boat and couldn't get it to run any faster because of the port sponson waving to the people problem.
