    Hey Or Gene,

That's a great start! Can you do that to the rest of the article or did the above actually take two days?

Thank you Gene, as I have said before, you are a man of many talents.

Don't believe I ever met the author of this article, Flip Morris (wouldn't that be a great name for a tunnel boat driver), so I don't know how he is connected to the racing fraternity. However, he did mention that McGovern sheared flywheel bolts and that Seebold lost his flywheel. Those are two different problems and someone close to Merc had to share that info with him.

He also talks about the steering issue that cost Schubert/Muncey a couple of laps. He mentions that Berghauer's last pit stop was fast, he doesn't mention that the motor was kept running. He says that the winning margin was almost two minutes, I thought it was less than one but am not sure.

He says the Seebold/Serra Mercury/Molinari took the lead during the first hour, with Muncey moving into second. He says they and held it through hour number six, leading by as many as five laps at one point. I sure don't remember anyone at Parker ever being that far ahead. He mentioned there was pre-race controversy surrounding the rotaries, but it died as quickly as they did. I was looking for a mention of John's fast lap, but Flip must have missed that one.

Yeah didn’t see the “fast” lap quote either but I was driving in the 1st hour not Muncey. More notoriety I guess

Is there any mention in any of these discussion groups of how he got hurt in I think it was Lake Havasu(sp), where he broke his back and hip? That is one thing I do remember bits and pieces of, or when he was driving with Vincenzo Ballesteri (sp) and gas blew up in his face? I know my stepmother Joan, had these articles and I'm gonna call her and ask if she still has all his old articles and if she does, I may have to get these and do some reminising of my own with ya'll! LOL
Hi Jan...Just wondering if you are still out there somewhere & if you had any other photo's/stories to share about your great father Billy Don Pruett? Thank You!

Jan ? Are you the little girl who used to say “DADDY, THATS ONE OF THOSE BIG WORDS, LIKE HELICOPTER AND MAYONAISE”
On that trip to Havasu he threw a skunk into Mertons room. Jim was real pissed at him.

Hi Jackie, I'm not doing either ..... It's just that with all of the nonstop chatter on the 'Tricks' thread these days, I can't seem to get a word in edgewise!

I don't know the answers to your questions about Pruett's family. However, I do have a suggestion on how your might go about getting them. Back in 2006 his daughter, Jan Lyda, posted about her Dad on this thread. She also asked "who is Willabee?" I communicated with her via 'private message'. I think you can go to post #132 on this tread, click on her name and select 'send private message'. It's been so long ago she may not even remember, but please tell her I said 'Hello'.
