Thanks a lot you folks, amazing after all these years how friends come through when they are most needed. Thought about you all a lot during that day, even our favourite Don Ameche look alike, but i would not admit to being THAT hard pushed.

Will chuck a few bits of European history in a briefcase, in the form of News sheets and piccies . Maybe see if i can get a bunch of old 8mm films on to a cd or two. That's if anyone is interested in Paris, Bristol, Milan, Amsterdam and Chasewater, circa late 60's through to the '80's.
Have a bit of history on Campbell and the ill fated Bluebird y'all might like to take a peek at.
Son Mark did the boat driving and stuntwork for the Film 'ACROSS THE LAKE' With Anthony Hopkins doing Campbell.

Have most of the stuff ready to send to WILLABEE, 'cos he really appreciates the old stuff, but it may entice him out of hibernation if i take it to Jupiter for him.
He's been quiet too long and that's worrying. !!!!!! He's either cooking something up, or he's not feeling too good, and in a young puppy like him-----that's not allowed----Rules were not made to be broken----just bent a little, OK.

Rip Van Willabee should be shaken out of his slumber, there are too many things that need recalling ACCURATELY, while i will remember the time and place, he can tell you whether it was raining or not and what time of day it was, and if he'd taken his tablets that day. The man is NECCESSARY!!!!

Seebold's start....
Bummer.....The man finally says something nice about me and I have to let him down with this response .
Olegator.....are you thinking Seebold ran the twin Jones at Portsmouth? I really don't recall that, but it would have been a good shakedown for the boat before the World Championships so that does make sense.
What I mostly remember from the Portsmouth nationals is Johnny Sanders. Seemed like he entered something in almost every class and was very good in every one he entered. He had an exceptionally wild ride in an Allison on FJ and just showed everyone how much talent he really possessed.Last edited by willabee; 04-24-2009 at 11:48 AM.

Garbrecht and I were coming back from a trip out west and we stopped at a race in Illinois to watch Seebold driving Les Brown's 7 litre Long Gone. Gary talked to Bill after the race and I think the next move was to put a 20' Jones together for him to run at Havasu in 1970, maybe his first factory drive.
Willabee: Didn't Seebold drive/test a triple Jones at Parker 1970 for GG? Bob Massey drove a triple Jones and crashed that year---was that the same Jones?

Johnny Sanders ---------one of my favourite people, seemed like every race i went to anywhere in the world he was there. If there was a stone bitch of a rig that nobody could drive , it fell to him to wring it's neck, He got the jockey job for Jimmy Hauensteins ----double engined --- contraption that promised much and delivered little at Bristol. Wild thing that nobody sane would entertain . I still say he finished behind us in the infamous '70 Paris 6 hours. [ promise never to mention it again ] JW.
