Worlds fastest 8ft dingy
Well probably not, but 27mph on a handheld gps.
This is what you get when you put a KE7 on a 8ft dingy, lol.

I don't think I will be doing it again, as the dingy didn't really like having all that power on it, well at least parts of the fiberglass, lol. It was kind of scary too.

That is great !!
that video is great !!
the pic looks like an old mercury super ten. They were FAST !!! wayyyy faster than even todays 10 HP motors.
we tried a 9.9 e rude on a 8 ft pram dingy. very hair and only saw the mid 20's. The transom was flexing big time !!!
I love this board. Too funny !!Scott Strang

Cool vid. I GPSed myself at 23 MPH in a 12' aluminum flat with a 15 Yammy and me weighing 230lbs.

After that run, I put my 21 yearold son in the front, he weighs about 150, and I weigh about 210, plus the KE7 lightning, and the boat, I'm guessing around 550# total, and we did 25mph on the gps, only losing 2 mph. I think there is more potential, but I will probably ruin the boat and maybe hurt myself if I continue. The motor was about 3-4 inches lower in the water than it should be, and I could put a racing prop on it and a nose cone, I bet you I would get 35mph or more. That is why I am looking for a utility class runabout to play with.
The whole bottom of the boat is spider cracked now, and there is a piece of fiberglass missing where the transom meets the hull, due to flexing, and the transom is spider cracked a little. I did however before this run, reinforce the transom rail with square bar, and 2 extra layers of glass, and put new marine plywood on the transom, but it wasn't enough.
As I enter in to the ranks of fast boats taking small steps at a time, I will soon own an Allison with a 2.5 thats the goal. I am like an information sponge right now, trying to learn it all.

Good luck to ya
I just hung a 70 Merc with trim on a 10' tunnel. We put it in the water Saturday morning and had a blast. There were 4 of us that went to the river and took turns driving the 2 seat boat. For beginners, it sat dead in the water at about a 25 degree angle. A bit too much weight. On take off it stands straight up and when it drops it just screams. Not very fast but a ton of fun. Best speed was 43 mph. Of the four of us two have tunnels that run 105 and 130 respectively and we had as much fun going 40. Be careful, have fun, and good luck on that Allison thing. I just picked up my first Allison yesterday and I can hardly wait to get it wet.

agreed
this thread is a riot !! i love it.
I also put a 9.9 HP on a Bass Tracker Bantam 2X.(8FT bass boat made by Bass Pro shops it was rated or a 3 HP LOL) I was 12 at the time and i thought because it was a tunnel hull that it would be fast. the only that happened fast was that transom breaking.
I quickly went back to the over powered 4 HP E rude.Scott Strang

lol
My dingy is rated for 4hp, I guess I'll go back to my overrated 1957 5.5 rude.
What kind of 10' tunnel is it? Sounds like it would go faster with some tuning.

Last weekend we had the annual bath tub races at Pitt Lake Vancouver B.C. most of the tubs were 9.9's and running around 30 but one hade a light girl 80lbs and gps speed of 45. We had 9 tubs 3 sank due to run out of gas, engine problem other mech. problems.I finished 4th and was half full of water on my way in. these boats don't float with a person in them and mine doesn't float by it's self it rolls fill's up and bob's with 3 inches .But lot's of fun.

10' with 70
I really wish I had a clue how to set this thing up. I have the jack plate as high as it will go, the motor as high on the plate as it will go , and the prop about even with the bottom of the sponsons. No nose cone or low water pick-up. Gearcase is a 2:1 with a 13" wheel. I have another case that I think is a 1.62:1 and a 13" 4 blade. I'll experiment after I get my Allison figured out. The jon next to it has a 25 but shouldn't have any more than a 10 horse. Just as it starts to lift, it drops the nose and starts to plow. Very wet ride. Again, more experimenting required.
