Lake Hopatcong on a Sunday YIPES!

Scary! This area is so overpopulated!

Went to the lake today cause I only wanted to go out for a couple of hours and go swimming. Good thing that was my intention cause it's impossible to go for a blast on that lake on a Summer Sunday.

The 35 MPH speed limit is not only reasonable, it's absolutely necessary. I wouldn't do 40 on that lake with all the lake lice and boats going every which way. There must be so many accidents. I was terrified someone would hit me. We went to a cove and went swimming and that's all.

Bash you probably were there. I think everyone was. I did see a white and read boat with twin 400Xs in the distance.

Oh and the State Park was closed due to overpopulation from freakin Newark so I went to the Marina just after Barnes Bros. It was horrible, it had no pitch. I backed in to the bumper of my truck and the tunnel was barely touching the water. It was a mother to get it off the trailer.

    Lake H

    Hey Mike,

I just got back from upstate NY from a long weekend around 5:30pm. I love sitting off our beach and watching some of these knuckleheads. They truly are scary. The weekends are just good for anchoring and swimming although I’ve noticed that the Water 5 O has not been enforcing the 35mph limit. I’m hoping to eventually move to upstate NY by the west side of Oneida Lake in the Cicero area. Oneida Lake is 33 miles long and 12 miles wide with no stinking speed limits.

    Lake was wild

Mike,, I was there today, 21 Superboat Yellow and white 300 PM,, spent most of the day anchored in Byram Cove,, The lake at 3:30 or 4:00 was wild,, had fun though, ran 60 most of the day, everyone was going so slow, they were throwing monster wakes.

off topic but ING I live about half hour from Oneida Lake... I frequent Lake Delta, a small resiviour on the Mohawk river, not good for big boats tho, hate to see them as matter of fact, good lake for watersports though

    Talking Delta Lake

I'm from north Utica and spent many summer days swimming and boating on Delta. We also use to spend a lot of time on Hinkley and others up north (Piseco). Great place to enjoy the outdoors year round! I've also partied big time up at Clarkson and Potsdam before the drinking age went up and 40 keg house parties were the norm.

Your nuts going there on a nice sunday in the summer. That lake is out of control. If you ever go to a marina to launch flash and clarks landing have good ramps. I perfer flash last time I was there they had a person directing traffic and it made things go so much smoother.

Yea the lake is nuts. The worst is all the people on jetskis. Also you need a deep vee boat for the weekends. In my sutphen everyone gets beatup cause my boat is so flat. I heard the Lake Hopatcong is one of the busiest lakes in the US. It has the most boats registered to it for it size or something like that.

Don't need a deep V, the worst chop that lake can make is nothing for the 24 or even the 21 Skater.

Phillip, I didn't see you did you see me? I was drifting by the new Condos and swimming most of the day.

Ray, I only went to swim, I knew driving around wouldn't be an option. I think it was Flash marina I was at. They had 3 ramps and concrete docks (which were scary) The ramp was practically flat, not good for a big float on cat. No problem coming out but was not easy to launch.

Thats not flash. Flash only has one ramp and a floating dock. I know what ramp you were at Im not a big fan of that one. The docks look like they can do a lot of damage. You still going to long island on wensday? Also how did the engines run with the reset fuel settings? Most likely the lake was to busy to find that out.

    NO MIke

Mike,.,, no I didn't see you, or I would have came over. Kim and I were anchored up in Byram Cove,, ran up and down the lake 2 or 3 times, no 24 Skaters seen. I have been launching at Floraine marina,, (2) ramps, both pretty good. Good parking for you truck and trailer,, I have not hear of any trouble with the speed limit,, you have to run fast on a day like Sunday,, it didn't smooth out till 50 or 60, If you see a yellow and white Super 21, 300 PM come say Hi,

Mike, You were at Lees Park. It is now a Morris county run facility. The cement walls are killer no matter how many tires they put up. The first two ramps are tight but easier to unload on. The third is wide, but very flat. Lee's park is where most of the fisherman launch on weekends, it is a nightmare most times. You are better off at Floraine or Flash however they also get so busy, they turn people away. There maybe a new Marina in town next year, and if it happens, I will have a discount for all S&F ers that want to launch !!
