How fast are the big HP waverunners?
How fast do the fastest stock wave runners go? Which brand is fastest? I know some are supercharged. My boat runs 75MPH on speedo and hav'nt been passed by one yet. A couple have been real close, they seemed suprised that they were passed....AL...

All I know is I would love to have one that does 3 digits... Could you image getting passed by that... It would be like a sled on the water... Awesome ride!

why does it seem like jet skiers are like bass boaters at the ramp. they always brag about how fast they are until you get them in the water and run them down. last one I went by I looked down and the GPS said 75, when we got back to the ramp he said that I passed him while he was doing 85.
what a load of BS

Very few stock PWC's exceed 70 mph top end. there was a company in California making ALUMINUM picklefork tunnel-hull jet-drive PWC's with 4-stroke engines claiming mid 80's+.

Is this the wrong thread to express my dark disposition for the majority of PWC riders...?? Yes, I too have heard the big numbers and claims... They always display their distinct ability to evade you once you slide off the trailer... I guess the sound of a high compression 2500 cc engine warming up is too much for their ego... Back to the point, the fastest that I have personally seen was a GPS'd 71 mph....

Ha, yep, they all think they go 90 until you leave them staring at a rooster tail.
Wasn't raceman working on putting a 260 in a waverunner to see if it could be done?

I think the 2.5 hipo deal was done by Larry Mumford a FEW years ago. I think there used to be a picture of it on the Brucato site It had to have a SVS on it to fit Oh yah, back to the thread... I haven't seen one yet that is very quick Hehe

I can't find anything on it here, the old thread must have got cleaned out. It was a Tigershark with the 2.5, from what I recall.

We put a light kid with a gps on a new turbo Honda jet ski last year. Took him a while, but he was able to get 70 mph out of it. He had to get in a good aerodynamic tuck and get the weight in just the right place to do it. He told the Honda shop about it when he took it in for service and they detuned it for him. Not so fast anymore.

Actually it was a Polaris with a 300 drag and a Brucato on it. They ran it at Augusta when the Prop tour was there and had a PWC race to fill a time slot. It was quick, but never looked real hooked up.
My project was gonna be a horn motor replacing the 175 powerhead in my SeaRaider jet boat. (16 foot with Merc Sportjet) Like most of my projects I never got around to it.
I had a supercharged SeaDoo last year and it would show 70's on the Speedo, but 65 on the Radar. I've yet to see a stocker of any brand that'll run 70 in real speed. Y'all are right about the PWC guys bein' like the bassboaters on the ramp with the exagerated speeds though. I always trim 20 MPH off what the bassboaters say, haven't developed a number for PWC's yet.
Personally, I think the 215 horse Sea Doo is hard to beat. It's blazingly fast out of the hole and the local dealer says he's yet to have to go inside one even after his third year of sellin' em.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

Doesn't anyone ride stand-ups anymore?
I have a Kawi SXi Pro 750 twin carb, and that's a lot of motor for a little stand-up machine.
