    $ Value of '66 Merc 110ss? (short shaft, inline6)

    Hey guys. I need to know how much a 1966 Merc 110ss is worth. This motor is a inline 6 with a short shaft 15" midsection. It supposedly runs and it looks good. Its not a show piece but it looks solid. Everything is included and fully assembled: powerhead, mid, lower, and a strange lever pump hydraulic trim system.

    I appricate any insight on this because I just don't have any idea of its value.

    Thanks!

    Value

    As you may or may not know, these are getting harder to find,ones that run and that are cosmetically correct are worth more than say one that is botched together.( and there is alot of those out there) It is hard to say with out seeing it,or hearing it run, but if it's in decent shape and runs good my guess would be around the $1000.00 mark.Again not seeing it makes it difficult to asertain to its value.

    Personally I don't think those motors are worth that kind of money, but with E Bay, who knows? They're functionally obsolete (as are most older inlines and realistically newer ones too) and unless you've got an old boat that you need an old motor for from a nostalgia standpoint, they're not of much use, since they weigh just as much, but are considerably down on power from the newer inlines. Unless you just want a 60's crossflow, I'd be lookin' for a 1500 unless that ones in the 3 or 400 range and you just like it. (SS stood for solid state ignition back then as opposed to the previous points and condensor type, not sure what year it started)
