    Can that work be done to any piston ported motor or just to fat blocks?

    The fat block has a very thick liner and has the material to do this to and would show no signs of external modifications but a "standard" 2.4 steel sleeve engine would need a lot of pig putty to do that to as you would go through the block and the pig putty would be the "block" then so yes.......LOL

    Nothing wrong with some putty, much better then welding it up and having to line bore it.
