actually, if I have done this right, and I remember from what I think my buddy was mentioning to me. Was that he was looking for around $18k CDN for the motor, and he purchased the hull for I think $4k USD(which is pretty damn close to $5k CDN, just 50 or so dollars shy of that) and plus all he put into it, like new lexan winsheild, Dupont Imron paint job, new upholstry, wich is like over probly $1500-2000, and can't forget the Sea Star Pro steering system. So when you really figure it out, it's worth pretty much what he was asking for it, actually a bit under priced.

    what's it worth?

    Trippledude is right,

Unfortunately most of what your friend is spending his money on is considered maintenance. New interior, windshield, paint just means he has a really nice old boat. The new bottom may increase the value some but not nearly the cost of doing it. The only way it will be worth it is if he is doing it for himself to keep and enjoy. I have never seen anyone get back what they spent on a boat, you know the old saying about the definition of a boat, a hole in the water you fill with money. I don't mean to knock the guy's boat but if he found a buyer for half that price I would suprised. Nice boat, enjoy, and don't worry about the money, you can't take it with ya, and your kids will blow it when your gone anyway.

    Clyde,

After reading this post I started thinking of all the money I have spent on just upkeep on my toys over the years, man, I gotta get a yugo and a jon boat! NOT! Oh well.

Still planning on the Illinois Trip. Going to drive down that day and get a room for the night so I don't have to travel back, any suggestions? You still want to ride shotgun?

    Clyde

I THINK I'll be coming down with a gal the night before also. Talked to a work buddy who lives out that way and he gave some hints. The best place to stay in La Quinta in Lasalle or Peru. Of course, I have biiger plans than just sleeping. He also recommended a great place to eat and said their prime rib is the best he's ever had. It's Bartley's Supper Club at 414 1st Street in LaSalle. Maybe we can hook up for dinner or a couple beers on Friday?? I'll probably be covered for a boat seat with racerx but wouldn't mind a ride in your Stream sometime during the day. Or maybe I'll let the little woman ride with racerx??? Still not sure if Dave's boat motors are done? He might be boatless for the day also. Last year I rode with him in his 28 Motion with triples. It was awesome!!!!

I saw a guy towing a kayak down the street with his bicycle, had a little trailer made from small diameter aluminum tubing, talk about a low cost way to go and very "GREEN" too
