I recently found an old 2001 Thunder powerboats king cat like this, and it came from the factory with I/O gassers. I got a decent deal on it after someone gutted the engines and out drives from it. I want to convert it to bracketed outboards. Just like this boat, mine has 2 -1/4 thick wood transom. I do not see any rot in any of the holes. Looks like the OP didn't beef up the transom prior to doing this project. Any suggestions here for beefing up the transom? I was thinking of grinding the inside of the transom and adding a board of 1-1.5" coosa 26 and then a couple of layers of 17 oz biax with epoxy resin, along w some better knees. Someone else in this thread suggested just filling the existing holes, and fabricating 3/8 aluminum plate with angle on the inside of the transom and tie that into the existing stringers. How would any of you do it?
