You might be right wing nut, since he was talking about a race I just assumed it would have solid motor mounts. but a guess if its a production class. it could be rubber(dampers).

Are the V4s out now? They show 100/115hp. Here is another page I found: http://gov.evinrude.com/evinrude.html
You think my bayliner would go faster if I pulled the 85 force off and put a 90 etec on it? lol
Found DI motor specs there too: http://gov.evinrude.com/evinrudecomp.htmlLast edited by sho305; 09-23-2004 at 04:11 AM.

I've been told here my old 1500 inline is about 115 prop hp and 325lbs? My 85hp force triple is 275lbs in the manual including integral trim. They just can't get the weight down with all the new stuff on them...but I know they are a lot better.

Weight
I think the E-TEC, because it has far less steel parts than the Verado, is more likely to do well in a weight reduction exercise. Heavier motors are here to stay, but as we all know weight reduction is the best path to better performance.
When I bought the 15 for my Zodiac, I really wanted a four stroke just for the increased range. I was cured of that when I tried lifting one! It's hard enough lifting a 75 lb. two stroke over the transom onto the platform, then onto the Zodiac.
Can't wait for the 15 E-TEC!

Dampers
Espen is indeed referring to the engine mounts.
Norwegian and Swedes call them dampers since they dampen vibrations. (Unless they are solid, that is)Markus' Performance Boating Links:
