Hi there and many thanks - started off when I had a quiet spell with work (I work as a boat designer) - and of course got really busy straight away - so has been going for a number of years now!

But basically to make a fun little catamaran - 13' 9" long - 2 seater. Got quite a bit of interest in them for fun and racing - and we have full female moulds.

Just got to have a final push and get this one on the water!

Well for the first boat I have fitted a 60 Merc - which will be plenty. Especially as it is 20" shaft - really would like to have had a 15" model.

On the low side - 30hp upwards and it will run ok! Then on the high power side - all down to set-up and balance. You do tend to put more power on in the US than we do over here!

Yes, we do tend to be that way....
I was thinking something like a 90 Yamaha. My boat which is probably about the same size ran 63mph with a stock 90 yamaha and handled quite well.

Nice part about the Yamaha 90 other than they are very reliable is they can also make some good power. If it runs good with 90 hp you could buld up the motor to 120hp and not add additional weight.

This little 10' boat runs 38mph on it's own and 59mph on the bottle!
It's rigged with an '85, 25hp Merc. with relieved exhaust, SS PowerTec prop, Custom, Delrin solid motor mounts, a Bob's 10" Jack Plate and a Through the Carb NOS system. It has 2 independent fuel lines, 1 is stock, the other goes through an electric fuel pump and used solely for the N2O, to smooth out fuel pulses and ensure fuel pressure.
