IOGP Racing circuit and Mod VP...........

This might be an incredibly stupid question but is there still a Mod VP circuit?? I'm watching old races on tape and am completley in awe! I run an HST and low and behold, there's a bunch of HSTs' , Stokers, STV's. Unreal!!

Anyone hear where guys like Chip Watkins or Rusty Campbell are?
How about former HST guys like Richard Holzhauer, Ron Meyers, John Castelli, or Kevin Barret? Would any of their boats still be kickin' around or would they be ancient history?

    #23 Meyers
    #36 Catelli

Barrets boat was run over in Maryland but looked repairable. Can't remember the numer of his; sixty something.

We had races, F1 and Mod-VP in Winnipeg here back in 90-91.
Stoker, Campbell, Reynolds (Allison). Anyone know why that circuit stopped running here?

Unfortunately, Mod VP died in the mid 90's and the Formula 1 circuit has also gone. Rusty Campbell went on to Formula 1 before dropping out a couple or more years ago. Now living in Augusta Ga. Glen Reynolds has a dealership in Kingston,Tn and still drag races. Alan Stoker posts under racer. He was the OMC driver who actually won ST Louis and they after juking him around for months finally had to admit it and award the win to him. Took a lot of poor choices by the powers that be to destroy it all, but they were up to the task.

Thanks Ray. What a shame; that was a cool circuit and great racing. I wonder if anyone has thought of reviving a circuit like that; one where "ski boats" race roundy round. I'd be all over that! So would a number of others.

    Race

Blair runs the WSA Snocross circuit; maybe I'll talk him into running/organizing a circuit where frostbite isn't thought of.

P man, it's the tape that Ted copied for me. I was in toronto last week and had the chance to grab a bite to eat with him as well.

It is awesome! i've watched it every night and it's longer than 3 hours, more like 8.

    Ask Ted how Oprah is..............

I got the original copy from Rusty Campbell, if it is the one that starts in the earily 90's and ends in 1991?

I think its got alot of late 80's footage on it too.
I love the scene where the sleek sst blows over. For a heavy boat that thing came up pretty quick lol
Also someone Reynold I think drove an ally. Whatching that thing in the corners with all the stv's and stokers around it is pretty incredible.
I guess you focusing on the way those HST's hook in the rough stuff lol
    Definatly some AWSOME footage!!

Glenn Reynolds drove the Allison in MVP. I don't think the MVP Sleeks were any heavier than the STV raceboats. The production Sleeks, well, they were barges.
Can you guys burn this tape on VCD for some of us? I miss those days...Supersport doesn't seem the same.

Lakeracer, Donnie McDowell raced mod-vp and mod-u back in the day, he races Supersport now. He says SS is just like mod-vp when it started with carb 200's. He actually thinks the SS boats are quicker then the 200's were.
You certainly can't compare where mod-vp was when it died to were SS is today. But then again what caused a great class to die? Most of the guys that race SS would love at the very least less weight and open exhaust. As participation grows hopefully it will graduate to a second class with bigger motors. Green motors are here to stay and some people in power need to start promoting racing them and stop having personal agendas in their decision making, for the good of the sport.
