rebuild questions
This is on a Suzuki DT25C but questions are general. I do have the manuals for some direction as well.
Is there a better material for sealing the crankcase halves? There is a part # in the books for a sealer but I also have been told Loctite makes a product. Cases are dowel pinned.
The manual calls for some pretty tight piston to cylinder wall clearance, 0.004 is the upper limit. I plan on a good, long break in, should I press the machinist for this tight a set up? In his experience "less tight" on rebuilds is the norm.
Thanks for the help. Jim.

I hate to give bad advice and I don't know much about your motor, but since no one else is replying, I would do what the manual says on the sealer. As for the clearance, I would double check that figure with a completely different, but reliable source. Manuals have been known to have misprints and mistakes. Like the time I had to pull my trucks oil pan back off and retorque the rods and mains because the book had not 1, but 3 different values in various chapters for these.
Maybe someone with more experience on these will jump in here. Good luck.

.004 - .005 clearance would work if you are using a cast piston.
Forged piston expand when heated up so they require more clearance.
Just a general rule,
