Question about Power Pack Replacemtn

I was told that on my motor(1997 Evinrude 150 Intruder (carb.)) that there wasn't a need to replace the optical sensor when repacing the power pack. Just wondering what some of you guys think. I was told something about a sleeve being gray that I don't need to replace the optical sensor. But that if I had the blue sleeve then I would need to replace the optical sensor. Any help would be appreciated. Lynn

i used to have a 90 hp johnson that the optical eye went bad on twice. so i would change it just ym $.02
