    While y'all are at it, how 'bout findin' somebody that can get some T2/T2X timing belts. I need a REAL NICE T2X cowl and a REAL NICE T3 cowl while y'all are scoutin' around for parts.

    I'd like to see some pics of the 20" Twister. I have one that was supposedly an offshore type also, according to a previous owner, but it's 15". It had the wiring harness run out through the front of the pan instead of the side, supposedly for more clearance on a multi engine boat, and also was set up for a shiftable gearcase, which was long gone when I got the engine with a rod through the side of the block.

    There's one other Twister/Twister 1 mystery I've never solved: I've seen two different bolt patterns where the exhaust log bolts to the side of the mid section. I can't find a pattern between early and late, and have seen both patterns on both the Twister and Twister 1. Any players on that one???????

    Incidentally, my red Twister ran within the last several years. If I hadn't hated the boat it was on so bad, it'd still get dunked occasionally now, but I sold the boat, so now it powers an engine stand.

    It CAN be. I know someone looking to put a T2x together. I would imagine some of these parts could be had to finance/trade for T2x parts.

    All I can tell you is that it is a 1974 serial number, both T2's and T2X's were made in 74, so that is no help. Is that the serial number stamped on the block or the number on a tag somewhere?

    If anyone can identify this number as belonging to either I'd be interested in the rest of what they know.

    I have a listing for the powerhead and short block part numbers, if the block casting number is close to one of them it might identify it, but sometimes the casting numbers are jibberish as part numbers.

    As I once did with Mark20H's to identify how many came with small skegs and how many came with large skegs if the owners of Twisters, T-1's, T2's and T2X's would share the serial numbers here we might be able to figure somethings out.

    I'm not real sure there was much of a difference between the T2 and T2X powerheads anyway, at least at the time the X first became available. There's no question that there was some development and in-stage change in the X powerheads, but I'm not sure that the change from the T2 to the T2X initially involved anything more than the mid and exhaust plate. It's generally accepted that all of the X powerheads had the twin tubes in the carb venturi, but I've bought regular T2's that had em also. It's hard to say what might've been switched around in all these years, with race parts actually being affordable back then. I've heard of X's with single ring pistons and finger ports, but I've never seen either in any of my engines, and suspect they were mods, rather than factory originals generally available to everybody.

    All of the T2x's I ran had a LOT more mid range, and some top end on the prior T-2's....Their were significant differences. I tried ,once, to put an old T-2 powerhead on a T2-x mid section and the thing ran like crap.

    I ran Single ring and narrow ring pistons as well as some finger ported blocks but none of that stuff was available to the general public. I believe that the original, for public sale motor stayed virtually unchanged as a product during its approx. three year life span.

    Rich I believe they had the narrow two ring piston from the factory, although most today only have the common 3 ring piston.
