Property Tax
Maybe every where but my Boat falls under Property Tax. Luckily I still get to pay for the registration also yep we got the taxes down pat here to. I love paying taxes on top of taxes. Thats what keeps us down in Society. I would guess this is what kills more smaller businesses than anything else .
Thank Goodness we have a Government who looks out for the small guy. Now I like Bush But its time also to start focusing on some other projects. Im proud of how he took no B.S. from our attackers but now its internal (IRS). Taxes they arent goin away but its redicules to have to keep paying taxes on something you have already paid taxes on up front. Yeah they cover it up call it something other than sales tax after you buy it. Then it becomes property tax or luxury tax or recreational vehicle tax. There are just to many taxes. I figure after your pay check is taxed anything after that should not be taxed. Well I hope you dont think I like my check being taxed cause I dont its just that they got to get something and that should be the end of that.YOU JUST CANT FIX STUPID

"Have you ever asked yourself........What the hell happened?"
Yeah, I know exactly what happened: Congress is what happened. Welfare, food stamps, unemployment compensation (no the employer's account doesn't cover it all and what it does cover is tax deductible to him), government subsidies, government grants, government pensions for government workers, and last but not least bureacrats and bureacracies with no purpose other than to keep up with other bureacrats and bureacracies. Let's not lose track of the fact that over 50% of the working population is now on the government payroll in one form or another.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

I'll tell you what happened
It happened because we let it happen. And will continue to do so untill the people (us), collectively hold government accountable, (education, voting etc.). The beginning of this thread is a good start at making people aware of how out of hand it has gotten. It makes me re-think a few things. I love America. It has been good to me And I'm sure most every one else too.

Ya know here if I buy a car part like a water pump, and there is a core charge of $10...I pay sales tax on the core charge of 6%...and years ago they changed the law so I do not get that core tax back when I bring the core back in???? And you used to be able to bring the core with you so no core charge, nope; now they have to charge you core charge and tax even if you give the core when you buy the new part. How does that work? I pay sales tax on nothing! So even the poor boy fixing his own junker gets hit by the state, as well as everyone else.
The other day I tried to figure out why you have to pay tax on a used car...every time a car is resold they get tax. And if you buy a fairly new car private party they tax by book value, not what you paid!
Jeez, I average a good 35% income tax/fica. Then you got 6% sales tax, gas tax, permits, license, property tax, etc. I am sure it is 50%+. Apparently nobody looks at that line on the income tax forms: "tax paid". A third of your check for 52 weeks, then you get a few hundred back Woohooo! With these hard times, they are charging up everything here. Increasing taxes here for the state like crazy. And you know when times are good again they will never get rid of the increases....
The simple fact is that is about the only reason I need to hate liberal politicians; they spend/tax more. Look at the trouble CA is in; about the most wealthy state and they are in the hole big time. 38 billion? Taxes are killing my freedom to prosper here, I can't afford it! A company makes profit and helps this country, the gov't takes away. Problem is it gets to be more % every year.Last edited by sho305; 09-29-2003 at 08:11 AM.

Things are relative, so make sure you look at the gov't debt as a percentage of GDP; or the tax base. Many don't worrry too much as long as the debt is managable and secure. You can buy those gov't bonds if you want some of that interest On one hand that makes opportunity for anyone.
The big problem I see is the gov't does not save a penny for a rainy day when they are making the dough; for the poor times when it should spend more. If they got it, they spend it. The next tuff cycle they just charge more to make up like now....and keep charging. They had a decade to save for now. No fiscal responsability. It sure would have helped out this turn in our economy. Just the same even if they paid off debt the last decade, they could afford debt now so they could spend.
What if we ran our personal business that way? When our credit cards get to high we just tell our boss we are getting a raise? Right.
