Three Ram tilt pin question
On a three ram merc trim system is it ok to leave out the tilt pin altogether. This is my son in laws boat and it needs a little more tuck in on the motor!
Thanks Carter

Most 3-rams came with a mild steel tilt pin installed. I believe the function was to keep the engine relatively level in the shipping crate. It should be removed....you will gain another 5 degrees or so of negative "tuck". It is certainly not required, unless the boat exhibits some kind of bad behavior when trimmed in fully.
I have seen tons of engines where the installing dealer failed to remove this pin!

Trim Pin aka "Cross Pin"
I have a similair question, I have a 1991 2.5 mid-section swivel arm and 1989 2.4 mid-section swivel arm.
The 1989 2.4 mid-section swivel arm has a hole that will allow the use of a punch to remove cross pin. On the 1991 mid-section there isnt the hole on the mid section swivel arm.
If I install the cross pin from under the mid swivel arm, in the future How does one remove the pin without the hole in the mid section to back out the pin?
