    Looking for MPH 250 OX66

I have a 26' Avance Center Console. Max speed w 19p 3 blade and 2003 Yamaha 250 OX66 is 49MPH at 5400RPM. Maybe that's all shes got. What is my most economical way to get 5-10 more MPH? What outboard is the best bang for the buck and reliable? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hydraulic jackplate with setback might get couple more mph.

Setback and engine height helped me a lot, pretty sure you want to turn 6000 with that motor as well.

Is Set back going to help if the motor is already on a bracket?

It's back plenty by the looks of it, maybe just the minimum with a hydraulic jack plate. Great looking boat

So, if I wanted 5-10mph, what would be a sensible and economical swap?

I was referring to the “easy way out” with a 300xs. Wasn’t sure what that meant. What’s a good place to look for a used motor? How many MPH would a 300 get me?

That ox66 is famous for its reliability so I wouldn't give up on it just yet. I would consider a set of hydrotec heads and modify the airbox. That should be worth 2 mph each or 4 total.

At 50 mph, jacking the motor up or adding a cone won't buy you much of anything, but changing props might. On a bow heavy v like that you might consider the Yamaha T1 series of props.
