Need prop selection help for new motor

    I have a Baja 16 foot super sport with a 6" set back plate. I am installing a 1995 Merc 150 xri.
looking for a top end prop with good acceleration. I previously had a 115 inline 6 with a 21p Laser 2 that
worked well with boat. Any suggestions?

Fastest props I ran on my 16' Baja / 115 HO were a 27 Hill copy of a Triton and a 26 small ear chopper. 64 mph with either. Triton copy was sluggish accelerating. The 26 small ear chopper pinned the rev limiter to plane.

Buy something round eared in the 28 range and sell it if it doesn't work out.

So a small ear chopper will provide the best top speed , but sluggish acceleration?
is there a prop that does both fairly well?

Maybe find a 25 SRX? What are you expecting out of it for top end speed? Maybe that will give some guys that know this boat well a better idea of what you are looking for.

Mid 60s should be easy if the boat and motor are sound. For acceleration and speed I like Trophies on my SS2000.

An over hub prop would potentially be a few mph faster, but would have a greater chance of losing bite getting on a plane. Adding an Allison foil or a Bob's Tracker can help a lot with planing. These are cheap and easy to install.

I had a baja 186 ESS with a 2.0L 1993 150 HP Mercury. I had a Land & Sea hydraulic jack plate with 2" set back spacers and with a 25P Tempest I could hit mid 60's at about 5800 RPM's. I had a GForce Tuner and Boysen 2 stage reeds.

Thinking of trying the 24 trophy first, then go from there.
    THanks for expert help!
