    1998 Mercury Opti Max 225 DOA, what power head can be put on this mid section

    I have a question for the Mercury guys out thereI had a family member grenade his 225 opti max 20" on his triton bass boat. long story short I have the engine in my hands now for a future boat flats boat project.

    My question is this..? can any 3.0 liter dressed "Bolt on" EFI or Opti power head fit on this midsection? or the opti max midsection only accomidate optimax power heads?
    Mind over matter, If you dont mind, It doesn't matter..

    If you go non opti you'll probably have to replace or modify the adapter plate...otherwise yes any 3 litre can by swapped on with some small changes

    any 3.0 will work you just have to plug off the fittings that feed the compressor.
