Expectations are it's what the **** he wants to do. I did the same project years ago with GREAT results. And had a great time doing it. Ended up with a head turner, not just another single engine boat with a truck motor in it.
Attached are some pictures of my Seebold 25 from a photo shoot done for a Trailer Boats magazine article. Went from a 55mph sterndrive to a 76mph outboard with stock 25" 2.4L 200s. And, yes, had LOTS of storage where the truck motor used to ride.

Now that's funny **** right there!
    And thx!
Ive done this long enough that I basically listen to everybody but do my own thing anyhow.
Guessing that is local friend of previous owner and both are car moter guys.

    Gorgrous boat too.
Did you see Nicks for sale in Fla last yr? Came within a nats eye lash of buying it.
Was actually one of I think three from the factory as OB.
Always liked those boats.Nick had 250 xs's on it and ran 90!

Kevin, seller said "fire dept from n Fla", wouldn't tell me who.
He pissed them off after tracking them down trying to find out what he just bought

    Been watching that orher pair.
    Time is on my side.
May need another lesson e-tec versions.

    Have a lead on a popped '08 250 HO but is 20".
Owner says 3.4 liter but I didn't know they were out that long ago??

Im going to have to install a larger fuel tank just to feed two V-6;s, let alone two V-8's.

    Shannon, I like yours.

AZ, I looked at those too but same problem as above and dont like the gear cases.

They were out but if you need a crank (you probably will) One crank will cost more then All the parts required to build a pair of 3.3 Powerheads.

The weight difference between v8 and Etecs would not be noticeable on that boat.

    Weights are the same.

    Fuel consumption, not so much.

No, it's how they were stored.

on their shipping pallets w/the lowers blocked up to horizontal, prop hubs/exhaust facing up, uncovered, outside for 2 months.
    filled w/rain water.
motors locked to hard port, #s 4 and 6 and pumped water out the plug holes.

Bud called after seeing that on first motor, other two stored same way and I pulled the plug.

He said being fresh water they may run forever after flushing.

Told him he was right but no thanks.

Too bad man, I was geeked!

Maybe back to Paul's motors. 150 lbs lighter, way simpler and cheaper, w/no surprises/gambling.

We'll see. I told Bud to keep his eyes open.

    Time is on my side.

Big bummer.... if they were 3.3 you could put two pristine 93+ 3.0 cranks in them from that fresh water your now spoiled with.

Scott owner of Americat boats in north ft pierce called me a few weeks ago. He had a pair of merc 250 verados for sale. I think he was asking 12,000 for the pair. His number is 359--3641.

    Thanks Dave but too heavy.
And, I only do 2 stroke.
