Sorry to hear! Still a lot of GL's and a few of their 24 "offshores" running around the area. My first "fast" boat was a Switzer 16 foot Hugger with a tower of power. I thought I was the **** until a guy in a GL 21 with a 235 OMC ripped by. Prayers sent! Later, Dave

    Test location.

I would like to know where that "test" location was ...i believe it was the lower fox river about 1 mile from where i grew up...only a few years earlier 1962 i was born in 1970. mom popped me out and dad and gramps were moving us in to the river house. 5/14/70.
Switzer built boats in crystal lake and the lower river was only maybe 6-7 miles from them, so i would guess it was the place they would test, and smooth as glass perfect spot in my opinion
Switzers had a dealer right there at rt176 marina for years so it would make sense to me.
alot of good memories down there. Switzer boats is a huge part of that nostalgia...THANK YOU BOB! R.I.P.

A true hero. Will be remembered as one of the really true innovators, courageous leader, a legend in performance powerboats. And one of the nicest gentlemen I've ever met in boat design and racing circles. RIP Bob.

Had to be the lower Fox, but about where I don't know. Theres a lot of straight wide water in places, and gotta remember a LOT less traffic in 62!
Heck I was only 12, but dad had a cruiser at the "Last Resort" Fox Lake. Damn, I fell in LOVE with the "chain"!

Rt 176 ran from crystal lake to island lake over the river, prob 10 min ride back then and the marina on the west side was a switzer dealer for many years.
I would assume they launched there, you know it was smooth as glass down there, lot of fast boats still run there.

Yep, the guys name was Emil. I always heard the ran in the eighties, but no matter, he ran by me like I was going backwards. Later, Dave
