I believe it Ron, Rick said it ran in the low to mid 100s when he was out in it with 4-5 guys as well. These lightweight bigger cats need to stay light to run good #s. Once they get weighed down with passengers and fuel, they're pigs. Hell, my 28 Skater that ran a best of 120 with just me and no fuel would always run 112-114 with 4 people and fuel in it. Merc needs to come out with at least a 500hp model before I'd have any interest in a 36' and up cat with outboards. It will happen in time, but I don't think we'll see it at Miami. My next (and last) Skater will be a 388 with a pair of big hp Mercs on the back - whatever the biggest hp motors they offer when I retire/relocate to San Diego (7-9 years from now).

Definitely get ahold of me if you're around at the Miami show. We'll be there with some friends of ours, but it would be great to hook-up for dinner one night. I only plan to be at the performance show on Friday, and the rest of the trip at the in-water yacht show across the street from our hotel. And I agree that I wouldn't want a 36 with a pair of 400Rs, but I wouldn't want trips either. I'll be waiting for the next gen outboards from Mother Mercury for a bigger cat.

Cats are VERY weight sensitive and if they are built too light the ride will suffer drastically in the rough.
It comes down to the usual, give and take.
Dale, it sure sounds like your 30 will now be a nice easy lower maintenance turn key package.

i am sure this hull runs very well with the 2 stroke power. after seeing the pics of the transom in this thread, i keep wondering if the function outweighs the look. is the benefit enough to justify the drawbacks in aesthetics and creature comfort? i guess that if the performance increase over the center pod tunnels is at least 5-10 mph and it turns better, planes better, cruises better, etc, than it might be worth it. since i don't think this short a cat is raced anymore, it has to be considered as a pleasure boat and has to have some distinct advantages over other, more people accommodating designs. i actually like this boat a lot, just not sure if it justifies some of the drawbacks.
