    "Calling all prop guys"

When running Bravo's on a fairly fast cat, peeps have been known to cut off the bells.
I'm gonna take a guess and say it is for less transom lift & drag. ( my boat settled down in the back a little and seemed to like it.)

Fast forward to ... some peeps are producing thru hub props with an extended (but straight) hub. Probably a little longer than the Bravo hub with no flare or bell.

    WHY? what is the thought?

    Thanx guys.

for the weight of the bigger outboards and still provide some lift back there as the weight of the outboards has increased along with the HP. The blades have changed ever so slightly as well between the bravo's and where they think people are spending most of there time..

I agree. Most stern drive props also have the long tube with no flair. (Stern heavy boats) I have one that I run on my 27' V hull with an opti and it likes it a lot. Cleaver blades and the long tube combo provide crazy stern lift.

So, ........ if a guy had such a prop (or two) he should probably try them before shortening the hubs.

p.s. sounds like it may be more lift than I want.

Longer hub = more stern lift and more torque on the steering .
flared hub is similar to longer hub = more stern lift but also more drag. acts like a chute if large flare.
the bell shape ends are slightly less drag than older flared type,

I want to try shortening the hubs on a couple of props to get less stern lift, nothing like the big motors but will post my own finding when I do this.
Taking just the flare off does definitely five les stern lift ive already tried that.

So does this mean you finally received those props you've been waiting for?

Oh no! Are you getting sensitive?

You already know to try them out before doing anything, so have you tried them yet?

Put a picture up or email me one.

The general consensus was too much lift ... winner-winner-chicken-dinner.
No matter where I trimmed the boat had so much tail lift that I could not get it to fly.
I was pleasantly surprised, so on a boat that is real close on set up, don't look for more lift in back.

    Back to the drawing board.

There is no drawing board unless you are looking for something other then performance. 14 3/4 or 14 7/8 dia. 34 pitch 4 blade over hub with 12 to 18 degrees of rake from Dave Dewald. Move some weight forward and the boat will run 115+ with 300s at 1 3/4 above the bottom. Dale, Tom Kennedy, Jim Kirkland, Jim Melley, Garth Tagge, and several others have proven this with 28 skaters. Dale should have a pair that you can try... Now if you want to keep up with Dan then??

Thanx Joe, Dale already got rid of all the cool stuff when he decided to go 400's and keeping up with Dan is above my pay grade.
