Want to build a Short Shaft V4 Looper

I have posted a thread on a local site in Canada and am looking for parts and or advice on a short shaft looper build. I have read some info on multiple sites and received some great advice, help and suggestions. I'm starting with a 1989 140 Evinrude and I have two boat options, first is a 1977 Viper that has been re-cored and floor replaced a couple of months ago and a SST60 tunnel hull. Both hulls could be driven every weekend and need to be reliable. The idea was originally for the tunnel but could go either way before its finished. If you have started one of these projects or are currently running a motor like this please add your comments, pictures and recommendations. This will be a winter project if it all works out. I have included a link to the other thread that was started.
    Thanks

They may be close stock But not after racervboat gets done "trimin" the V4..... I know from experience as I have one! I can't see the Merc being near the weight of the V4 even after modding it.

A few guys drag raced SST60 hulls with looper V4 power back in the day. I recall a couple Mirage Cheetahs with an optional center pod. I doubt they turned very well but it worked for drag racing.

The 90 degree looper V4 powerhead does weigh as much as a Merc mini V6.

I have been wondering about the weight as well...I hadn't considered the weight being as much as a V6 Merc.
    Good info thanks

No at the moment we don't have a 100ci class up here. We do use the SST60 motors in our T-850 class. There is talk about introducing a small tunnel class for entry level people to raise interest and involvement. There are a few SST60 boats tucked away up here but no class for them at the moment. My interest is for a lake runner because there are 15+ boats on my lake that tour in the evenings. They come in all shapes and sizes Tunnels, T-Boats, Hydrostreams, Allison's and what ever else floats with a motor.
