My boat with a 2.5 carb eng with tons of mods cruse at 60/70 mph between 5000/6000 RPM with a 28p prop and got about 6/7 mpg on a long river run.
Now this is not horsing around just cursing.
It sucks it down if you are pushing the throttle down all the time.
Going to be hard to beat a Merc 2.5 in power to weight ratio.
Now MPG it all depends on how you push it. You know a high hp eng will do very good on MPG as it burns the fuel better.
Just have to keep your foot out of it when you want good MPG................

I am bummed, I get nowhere near the fuel economy numbers posted. I get 3-4 mpg on the stream. And about 5-6 with my flats boat with a 225 opti.....Must be my fat azz weighing the boat down.....

Fuel consumption of your stream is about the same as mine. I have a 2.5 200 carb.
