    GPS receiver/puck location on STV

Hey guys, Just bought a new gaffrig carbon fibre monster GPS Speedo, it's going to be mounted on my euro. I've seen a lot of people mount the receiver on the dash... Can it go anywhere else? There's no info in the install instructions on mounting location... curious if people have mounted them elsewhere with still maintaining an accurate reading, thanks!

Mine is glued under my deck and works fine. Use some tape and put it under there and check out what kinda signal you get. Beats having it on top of deck.JMO

Ok great, where abouts under the dash? Screw it down to the forward bulkhead? Does it need to be facing up? Thanks again!

facing up (horizontal to deck) If you have a bracket like this and dont mind drilling a couple holes or just put some silicone adhesive on the dome and stick to the underside of deck

If you going under and can not find the bracket I use a small thin aluminum strip, bend accordingly to support it. Bracket is a good idea especially in a HPerf hangin and banging application.

Exactly what I was thinking, bend up an aluminum L bracket, screw it to the forward and mount it so the top of the receiver is about an inch from the bottom side of the top deck.

Mine has been glued since I put it there. I dont like putting any more holes than necessary above or below deck but I only run flat water

Built this bracket back in 2003. Been there ever since. One is an external GPS antenna for my GPS, the other is for the GPS speedo.
