What Can I Expect To Find?
I'll be pulling the Trim Cyl from my '95 260 this Winter for a little TLC along with Seals.
Just wondering what to expect the pivot pins, bearings and top pivot shaft to be in?
I figure some of you guys have been here!
This one's never been apart!
These parts are still avail. from Merc on special order but they're evidently made of Gold!!!WillySteve Hendricks

If it hasn’t been in salt it should come apart pretty easy.

I failed to mention it's never been in Salt Water, but in Lake Texoma many times which rusted the fenders off my old boat's trailer from the high Salt content!!!!

Well in that case you might need heat, oil, and impacts lol. Yep Merc is proud of that stuff....I just rebuilt my cylinder...figured I’d do it right and buy the $125 rebuild kit (which consisted of a couple of orings and some seals). It all worked well, but I’d be tempted next time to try some generic parts from a hydraulic supply house. Replace all the bushings in the tilt and swivel pins while you are in there. Maybe a stainless tilt tube if you don’t already have one.

I've noticed lately that when I gas it in reverse, the engine kicks up a couple'a inches. May be normal but I've just never noticed it before....that's why I was concerned about the bushings and shafts. Top oil seal at the cap has had a slow leak for some time now's why I decided to go ahead with the repairs.
AND you're right, you can damn near buy a rebuilt cyl for the 4-5 o-rings and cap seal!WillySteve Hendricks
