Marine machine steering ram
Hi,
Might buy a used marine machine ram.
I wonder if the ram is different in size (stroke) for the 2.5, 3.0 and 15"mid engines?
If the same ram is used. How do they make it fit for the different engines? Only the wing plate which is different?
Thanks!

2.4/2.5 & 3.0 Mercury single engine side mount steering cylinder sizes are the same. Nine inch. The majority of Latham/MayFair/Marine Machine, etc., steering cylinders are 9"...and 7" stroke. 9'' the most common, and used on outboards, as well as I/O installations. Minor geometry length changes or requirements, are made up via slightly longer mount hardware or stand-offs and/or clevis rod end sizing. There are exceptions in cylinder lengths made for very custom installs. Yes, wing-plates will always differ, from small, to large V-6 Mercury's.

So all the marine machine rams are equal? Same length and stroke?
