April 19-23 is River Ranch this year which is over a weekend! So we are thinking about heading to this event then on Monday heading to Bimini.

Who else thinks this is a good idea knocking out 2 once in a life trips all in one week?

Have been there a few times.. just really be on-top of the weather forecast.. when you plan something way out everyone does allot of planning then when the day comes and the weathers iffy no ones ready to bail after all the planning.. but thats a long trip home if a front or sh*##y weather moves in after your over there. A buddy of mine spent 3 days trying to get back ... on the way over it was picture perfect, next day a front moved in and NE winds made it almost impossible to get back. I told him to stay put.. it takes about 3 time the gas if the seas get really bad and with NE winds they will never find you if u break-down or worse get swamped with a big ass wave..

And half way over you cross the Gulf Stream which is going north at 3 - 5 mph.
Best case you burn more gas.
Worst case, you break and your going to New York.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Guys do it in 13 whalers but then again guys come from Cuba on barrels so thats not a good representation of common sense. Twin motors and multiple boats are always going to be your best bet. When Todd came back last year in a 32 skater with triples it was rough and my guess is that he would not do it again if given the choice. We were in a 44 sport fish and some people would have considered it scary.
