2.5 Crank / Oiler Gear Loose

I'm rebuilding a 2.5L, and putting the crank together. When putting on the oiler gear, it's a little lose. Has maybe an 1/8 inch of movement (i.e. it slides forward and back on the crank)? Is that normal? Don't plan on using oil injection, will run pre-mix but have read it's good for balance to still install the oiler gear. Thanks, Chris

would remove gear if not using ,gear has some movement to center its self on oil pump shaft and that will remove looseness in gear ,you dont want it rattling around without oil pump shaft

It's normal. Leave it on, not for balance, crankcase pressure. Or maybe for later use.

With cali. If you remove it you gain too much cc volume on that cylinder lowering your pressure. You would need to fill the space with epoxy if you removed it, much easier to just let it ride. It's not hurting a thing.
