Viking prop advice from the propeller department please.
Looking for detailed prop advice for my 79 Viking. It has a 250+ hp Evinrude (455lbs) with 6 inches setback and prop level with pad at highest setting.
I’d like to keep the RPMs around 6500 WOT. With that in mind I’m thinking a 30” pitch, maybe cleaver or semi-cleaver for the stern lift (I’m no expert).
Another member recommended a Tempest Plus 29 as a good all-around prop on his V-King.
Main goals are good all around prop that keeps the R’s down and still has some good mid-range and decent handling characteristics.
Thanks in advance!

What type of performance and handling characteristics would be different between a drag 3 and drag 4? Same pitch and manufacturer.

ive ran both.....the drag 4 will handle better ....more stern lift.....pulls hard and will carry the weight better than the drag 3
i currently run a 3.....but the 4 was great prop on my vector/225pmax/2:1 gears81' HYDROSTREAM VECTOR / slightly Modified 200

I'm the one talking about the tempest. Any one else experimented with a prop for all around use and not just pure performance? How about the hydromotive quad 4's? Someone have a good prop for sale for this V-King johnrude combo? I have always heard the SRX was one of the best for an omc. Never ran one on my boat..

I don't have all the details with me right now, but it started life as an 87 Evenrude 200 and has been highly modified since. With LWP.

Where's the fuel and batt located in your King captcj? Do you have a prop now?

The previous owner put two batteries in it. One on each side against the transom. 2nd one is for the stereo system but I'm 90% sure I'm going to take the 2nd battery out.
The fuel tank was installed under the deck by the previous owner unfortunately. It appears to be a good install so I'm going to spend some time driving the boat before I change it to see if it presents any handling problems. It's a heavy motor so it may not be so bad having some weight up front. As for balance shifting as I burn fuel, I'm an airline pilot by profession so I have solid understanding of the balance and aerodynamic/hydrodynamic forces involved and understand trim and behavior changes with different fuel loads may be apparent.....
I wouldn't have put the fuel up there, but it is what it is.
I have a 26p prop that came with the boat. Appears to be some type of chopper or similar. I haven't tried to Google the markings on it yet.

With a bow tank the boat will like a chopper or SRX. They give a lot of bow lift.

Anyone think a 29-30 pitch will be too much prop? Don't want to lug the motor.
Wish I could run the dang thing first to have a better idea how the motor runs out.
Thanks
