    1991 Allison XR 2001 MOD VP

    1991 Allison XR 2001 MODVP with race cowl, string steering, stainless marine indicator, aluminum 20 gal. fuel tank, Livorsi gauges, all rigging and wiring has been redone. Single axle trailer with a 1996 225 Pro Max powerhead, 15 hours on engine since rebuilt, has vertex pistons and all new Mercury parts were used including: bearings, seals, gaskets etc. VST and oil injection has been eliminated. Merc HP fuel pump in boat with manual Holley regulator on engine, 20" ridgeback offshore driveshaft housing with one piece adaptor plate, 1:87 Sportmaster gearcase

    This boat would be perfect for the 2.0L class at the Parker Enduro. Just change the powerhead and install a big fuel tank and presto, You now have a very competitive marathon race boat.

    Bobby, what is the difference between this and an Ally drag boat? I'm Ally ignorant, and it looks pretty much the same to my untrained eye other than maybe the cockpit being further back.

    I`m not an Ally expert (or any kind of expert for that matter) but I think the cockpit is in the original spot. I remember back in the late 80`s talking to Glenn Reynolds about his Mod-VP Allison. He said the bottom had been worked but other then that it was just built stronger for rough water. I saw it run many times and it did have those nasty V-bottom habits like launching off a roller and doing the balance thing on top of boat wakes from boats in front. Mod-VP tunnels were easier to drive but that Ally had speed!
