New to performance mods, Evinrude 115 1996
Well fellers I have been working on my project. 1985 procraft 1750 comp. it has a 4 inch manual jack plate, 1995 evinrude 115, no vro, .30 over and no other mods to motor yet. running the prop shaft 3.75 inches under hull. Turning OMC 3 blade 13x21 at 5100 rpm and I get 44 MPH. I can trim up to 5300 but start to loose water pressure to the top of engine. I had it to 49 mph with the prop shaft about six inches below hull. was thinking of dropping it back down and stepping over to the Turning point 4 blade hustler cleaver 13x19. what say you gurus? later on in the week im going to go back to the river and try the 13.25x 19 OMC prop I have and piddle with the engine heights some more.
I have installed a new water pressure gauge on the motor to make sure its not loosing water pressure. When I was runnig my rest the other day the reason i thought i was loosing water pressure is my alarm went off after about 1/4 mile of being trimmed up. I shut down to idle, went and checked but the engine may have cooled off that quick because it did not feel hot and by the time I dug out the temp gun it was right at 112 on both heads.
Im new to this site and new to the idea of performance mods and the need for speed to the water but not new to engines. Have been lurking on this site for a long time, just decided to make my first post finally.

The only way to get more performance out of that hull is to slap a bigger mota on it(ie: 150). That's hull is more ride than speed....

I will say the boat did well in the wind and chop yesterday. I was suprised.
Why would dropping the motor and going 4 blade be better? Im trying to learn the whole bass boat performance. Does it have to do with this boat not having a pad on it but a shalow v?

I work in a prop shop and i wouldn't sell a hustler to my worst enemy....lol. Seriously tho get yourself i nice stainless propeller like a raker or a shooter for your omc. You'll probably gain 5mph.

Fwiw. Factory OMC chopper (Silver streak aka SRX) will give ya the best top end. Followed closely by a Raker.

The only reason I was hesitant on getting stainless is because I run the river a lot and was worried of destroying a 350-400 dollar prop on a stump strike. Always have used aluminum in the past for that reason. I added my river update for today. what prop and pitch would you recommend with my updates
Ill Check out those and see if i can find some locally for cheap
well just got back from the river here is what i got so far. Went up with the motor some more and would get more cavittation, no extra speed +100 more rpms. Dropped motor down lower No cavitation at decent trims. Put a 13.25x19 I had on and at WOT I can get 5500-5600 Rpm at neutral trim. Top Speed was 45 Mph and had almost 30lbs of water pressure. Was thinking about the 4 blade in 13x18 pitch to get me right.

The "88 extra special" twisting a 13 1/2 x 26 Raker. Lil under 6K rpm.

19 pitch is too small, like said above get a raker in a 22 or 24 pitch or the srx in a 13 3/4 x 23 pitch for top end.
with either of these you can run with the centre of propshaft around 2 inch below the boat for max speed.
the srx can go up even higher !!!
you should be over 5600 rpm and in the mid 50's easy enough.
71v153 that 88 extra special is extremely special if its the one with that lovely dropped over snout .
