Am i being scammed ?
I had a 300pm mid, clamp and tuner attached, bolted on a skid by a fellow member. The alien cowl and pan came with it on a skid. I had it quoted as 175 lbs. If it was 200 when trucking co. Weighed it, i would be happy to pay the upcharge. Now, apparently a week later the trucking co. Says it weighs 425lbs ,on a govt. Scale no less. They are trying to bill me another $200 on top of original quote ? Really, when did a mid weigh more than a powerhead ? As an interesting comparison,a buddy is having a complete 99 merc 225 3l efi, on a merc skid/crate, shipped cross country and they weighed it at 585 total.

Some carriers have scales that will remove the "average fork + driver" weight. Must have been the big dude on that fork when weighing your pallet. Call the carrier up and bitch!

I would guess you are dealing with someone at the terminal level, some supervisor or dispatcher. Do you know if he was the terminal manager that you spoke to? If you spoke to the terminal Manager see if you can get to the corporate level. Who was the carrier and what zip was it delivered to?

So,now i just drove around town and found a certified scale. Gotta unbolt the mid from a stand, put it back on same skid, take my alien cowl/pan with me, in my pickup, and prove they dont weigh 425lbs. On my time/expense of course.

Did you weigh the skid plus whatever was used to bolt/strap/tie it down?

[QUOTE=David - WI;2998018]Did you weigh the skid plus whatever was used to bolt/strap/tie it down? I will be weighing it and documenting it with pics of how it was delivered to their origin terminal in Ga. I am dealing with a broker, he said that it was a random weigh, that trucking companies periodically perform. They weighed it in wilmington De. But delivered it my shipping/receiving term . In upstate Ny. I prepaid the freight and paid the receiving term. For their svcs. $30, me and two guys lifted it into my f 150. Off i went into canada, declared it and paid tax. It sat a whole week in my truck, then this past wknd i cleaned up my shop and bolted it to a stand. Mon. Morning i get an email stating it was 425lbs. Not 200 and i owe another $200, and yes it was well bolted to a 42x42 skid, beside it was the alien pan bolted to skid, with 2 300pm ecu's shrink wrapped and hood fastened to pan. Then all bubble wrapped. They did a great job transporting it,no damage. Just ain't no way it weighs 425lbsQUOTE]

I really dont wanna name the co. And spank several good drivers and terminal handlers, cause i talked to 1 idiot at their office. They are big . I used to see their trucks all the time when i lived in Fla.They actually did a great job in delivering it in 3 days fron Ga. To Ny. I am sure it can be resolved. I just got one jerk on the phone. I will get things documented and try to get someone higher up to talk too.

Always ask for the Terminal Manager if it is an LTL trucking firm. They are the ones that acutally can change the rates most times. If that dont work you will have to go to the corporate level.
