    Portable Gas Tank Connectors

Hi all, I am running a 140 Looper off of 6 gallon portable tanks, using the OMC type quick disconnect. This is not delivering enough fuel for the motor and I was wondering if anyone else uses those portable tanks and what kind of disconnect fittings do you use?
    Thank you.

I had a 140 looper that worked fine using the factory disconnects. Maybe you have bad gas lines? Or bad O rings in the fittings letting them suck air?

Image posted above is similar to what I have. The fuel runs through the lower fitting. That fitting is at best 3/16" inner diameter, with the plunger in the center which blocks nearly half of that opening. So, I am just figuring that this is where I am losing some fuel flow and that it would help if I went with something bigger.

All of my fuel lines are new, 5/16 fuel grade with new primer bulb and new fuel filter.
None of the connections leak any fuel and i am opening the breather on the tank so it does not create vacuum in tank.
The only issue I have is that when running wide open, I can only open throttle bores about 3/4, maybe slightly more, and after that I lose rpm.
No other issues, runs real good outside that. Stock carbs, jets or bleeds, airbox and silencers still in place.

Have you tried pushing the primer when it starts dropping rpms?

Hose barb on the tank and the quick connector at the engine. No need for two connectors on the fuel hose. That connect should flow enough fuel. You may have another issue going on with the fuel system.

those motors came with portable tanks and plenty of juice should be getting through. something not right for sure.
are you sure its the right tank though ?
if its a smaller motors tank could be smaller hose fittings !!!
I have a omc triple with similar fittings and also have some older fittings that look the same just smaller bore for an old 30hp. not big enough for the triple and
    dont fit the motor end.

    just a thought

BE CAREFUL!!! as said above some of the male OMC connectors have smaller holes around the fuel shut-off pin for smaller motas. These will NOT feed enough fuel for the larger multi carb motas. You will need a couple to compare or order for specific mota from a dealer.

I was the one that said that above.
I know that what I have is too small for the amount of fuel that I am trying to use.
What I am wondering, is if anyone knows what is the right part, with number, to use. I do not care if it is OMC, or even designed for marine use at all. As long as I can connect it and disconnect it without tools.
My closest thought right now is to try and use the quick disconnect type fittings that are on my Western snowplow. They work with hydraulic oil, so why not gasoline w/2 stroke oil.
Thanks though guys, I do appreciate it.

I was trying to add to phillnjacks post above mine about the 30hp connector as I had the same problem. Having a plow truck with hydraulic connectors I see what you mean.....don't know the opening sizes but remember they are used at way higher pressure. Let us know how it works out if you do use them!

Hmm, yeah they are for higher pressure, but the fluid does move both ways under pressure for the plow.
I need to take a ride to a tractor supply or farm fleet one day and go from there.
    Thanks guys.
