Mini Cat Setup Manual Jackplate, 70hp yamaha, 13x26 cleaver HELP PLEASE?

Hi gents. I am a newbie at setup and rigging and hoping i could get some input.

I recently picked up an untouched 13' scatcat hull off of a guy for $200 and worked it as a 2 month project to make it in the water for summer.. Well here goes as short as i can sum it up,

I rigged it with teleflex guages and steering, 6 gallon fuel tank, a 703 yammie control box and a 70hp yamaha tlrq long shaft (125psi all cylinders - good engine) with a jackplate. Right now with the motor set with the center of prop shaft level with the bottom of sponsons i can get 42mph (gps) at 5300 rpms with my stock stainless steel 14x19 yamaha prop once trimmed right to get some bow lift.

I bought a 13x26 cleaver from ron hill in hopes to get some more speed but now im maxed out at 37mph at 5400rpm and a roostertail to the moon even when trimmed down.

Im hoping you guys can help me out with this one. Im not looking to do a million mph but ive read where a guy posted one that was getting around 67 mph with a similar setup.

ok first of all your speed of 42mph at 5300 rpm with a 19 pitch prop, something there is not right if you have the standard 2.33 to1 gear ratio,

its either revving higher or the speed is wrong or the prop pitch is wrong. ?

you want that motor on that boat to get to atleast 6,000 rpm or will be wearing out fast due to lugging big time.
those boats are only lightweight and pretty quick hulls. with the 19 it should easy hot 6,000 rpm and get to about 44mph.

if the 26pitch would work and get into the powerband of 5500 to 6000 then you would be looking at between 53 and 58mph.

to be honest I think the 26 is miles too much for that motor, but there ya go.

the prop needs to come up by around 3 inches atleast. I would keep going up until lose water pressure, so should be pretty high ..

looks a very neat little boat, I like the dash, it looks un-cluttered and very well done.

should be a blast when you get it all sorted out.

    very cool looking boat.

    Thankyou @phillnjack ...

A lot of nights spent in the garage putting it together. I will take your advice and raise the plate all the way up tomorrow and see what i do. I'm using gps speed so that should be dead on but the rpms may be a tweak off. Will give an update tomorrow of what she does. Thanks
