crank shaft party....
My wife never undestood my joy in getting a crank out of an old merc. I was at junk yard today and got a merc 1000 ph. The old motors are hard on cranks. Water from the lower seal. Well the crank was nogo.....spent 1 hr pulling a motor apart for nnnnn.I still like old stuff and will pound on the top of a junk pile.....DS....

Dave
I know what you mean
I have people wanting to give me inlines and i cant say no.
Sad part is most are long shaft old 115s
Nobody is getting rid of of short 1500s
I have always said its easyer to put up another building than get rid of someting

Thanks for the offer Xs ....Dale I junked 5000 lbs of merc 3 years ago...... still have way too much. I don't botter with 115 stuff but 100 110 cranks are hard to get in good condition.

in the pile of junk motors was a newer L4 115 damb nasty on my back.250 lbs or more with out gearcase. 110 block one hand. 110 crank easy to handle. New style L4 crank...handfulll....L4 block.... two hands.110 block one hand.....newer 115 rev limit 5250..110 till it blows....on a light boat..... I will take a old motor. the newer 115 are good work horse....if ya keep gas clean.

yeah I was told NEVER turn my old L4 100Hp motor more than 5250 or it will self detonate....... I never tested that theory.... Take a inline 6 any day.........
