    1983 Shadow 21 w/ 1996 2.5 EFI OS 260

    Looking to see if there is any interest in this '83 Shadow. This boat is turn key and is living in my marina slip in Pittsburgh. My dad is the original owner of this boat. This boat is an Image/Shadow, however, the sticker on it says "Team Shadow" because we got the wrong replacement. This hull has 220 total hours on it. The engine has about 50 hours on it.     What does the boat run with the 260? Is the floor, stringers, and transom have any areas of concern?

    I can’t tell you what the boat runs right now, I haven’t run it flat-out yet. She’s only been in the water
    about a week so I’ve been cruising around
    then coming back in and checking everything over. I’ll get back to you if I get a max speed run in, but she pretty casually broke 70 last weekend without any real effort. That was not a full throttle run. I don’t like the prop that is on this boat right now, it’s a 3 blade cleaver from the 90s, and I’m sure switching to a modern prop will net some gains, which will be exactly what I plan to do if I keep this boat.

    The “anything challenger” thread has a ton of info about what these boats can do with various set ups. It’s my understanding that these are not the fastest flat water hulls, but are fast in flat water and very good in rough water. In my experience this hull runs like a freight train in the rough, just handles amazingly well,feels bigger than it is. This hull does have a notched transom which aids flat water speed.

    Just put a new floor in. While the floor was out we expected to find other issues with the hull that needed work, but we didn’t. No soft spots, delamination, cracks, nothing. So we put a new floor in with new carpet and front bucket seats.

    Hi there,

    I have a few questions...

    How long has this boat been kept in the water? Does it still have the original Balsa Transom? Do you have any pictures of the boat when the floor was out, and with the lid off the engine bay? if the boat is clean, dry and original please give me a call 608 347 0027

    Ill give you a call tomorrow, but In case anyone else is wondering, the boat has been in the water for ten days. It isnít typically kept in the water, we just finished working on her so we wanted to take her out. The transom is the original. Like all Shadows the hull is balsa cored, and the bottom is notched. Iíll look for the extra photos. The only thing that isnít original is the lid for the ďengine bayĒ.

    Well guys, I pulled the boat out this past weekend, winterized it, and put it in an indoor storage facility. If anyone is interested I can pull it out, but otherwise, she'll go to sleep for the winter. $14k is my range if you want to have it to work on over the winter.     Boat doesn't "need" anything. It runs and is usable as is. You may want to change some things to fit your tastes but she's good to go.

    Yes I have a trailer for the boat that I certainly have no intention of keeping.

    Was this originally built for a sterndrive? I don't think I've seen any other Shadows or Challenger outboards with the engine hatch. Thanks.

    Yes this boat was originally built for an inboard but it’s always been run as an outboard. The engine compartment was converted into a storage locker/ sun pad.
