Cooling lines 225hp Opti on 300xs Exhaust Plate

    Hi,
I'm in the process of swapping my 1999 225hp Optimax powerhead onto a 2008 300xs Heavy Duty mid section. It is a complete mid, including exhaust plate and tuner.
My 225 picks up water on the starboard side of the block, above the exhaust plate for the fuel cooler, and water exits out of the port fuel rail directly into the exhaust via fitting in the port rear corner of the exhaust plate.
On the 300xs plate, the strainer for the water pickup is in the port side of the exhaust plate with another fitting (appears to be into the exhaust) directly below it.
    My question is:
    1) Am I better off blanking my starboard block located strainer/pickup and drawing water from the Exhaust plate, or blocking the exhaust plate fitting and leaving the pickup as per the standard 225hp (in the block)?
    2) The fitting below the exhaust plate mounted strainer, is this directly into the exhaust and therefore where my water exiting the port fuel rail should be connected to, in the absence of the angled fitting on the standard plate?
    3) Any concerns running the standard 225hp on the 300xs mid? Fuel map/Lean running etc?
Any help would be appreciated. Apologies for the sideways pictures, not sure why they loaded like that!
    Thanks

Generally on my opti's the water for the compressor and rails comes from the strainer on the port side of the motor. The water exits the comp and rails and goes to the pee stream hose. I have 225 opti's. Look at a parts dia and see where the water routes for the 300 mid?

Thanks XstreamVking, I've got it sorted. I blanked the cylinder block strainer and picked up from the 300xs exhaust plate strainer. I dumped the fuel rail air pressure regulator line into the exhaust at the lower 300xs plate fitting. All appears to be fine with this set up.
