200 XRi temp issue
Finally got my 200 XRi on the water last weekend and it ran great at speed but trolling at idle in no wake zone and upon returning to boat launch my temp alarm came on. It didn't when I launched but that was obviously before the motor was warmed up. After that I noticed no water out the pisser unless driving. When I first hung the new motor it was pissing at idle and now is not. Obviously the impeller needs replacement but Questions
1. What temp does the alarm go off and Does it go on with plenty of distance before temp is dangerously high to cause damage? It went on three times and I immediately shut it off.
2. My water pressure gauge is now working since at speed it reads 10-12 psi which I understand is still low and was pretty much flat at idle. When installed the gauge was running 3 lbs always. It was then reinstalled when transom was rebuilt.
When purchased owner told me impeller should be good and that of course is my first plan of attack. so the maim question is what should temp be and if alarm goes off is it already hot enough for damage to occur if immediately shut off? I know I should also install temp gauge. My old 77, 175 BlackMax had no alarm or water pressure gaugeLast edited by ultra912; 09-24-2017 at 12:06 PM.

Check your thermostats, they control temp at idle.

At what temp does the alarm come on and will that temperature do damage if motor is shut down right away.

"they say" and manuals say 190 to 210* but will vary.. what ever that means??.. get it shut down quick probably still good.. but that may "vary" also......
never ever take a new to you motor as havin' a good water pump unless ya know well tha guy ya get it from.. sometimes not even then!
replace "complete water pump" with oem KIT... go to tha water and test.....Last edited by tlwjkw; 09-26-2017 at 11:43 PM.
