I know the knees and transom are wood (I have had to dig into them for changes that I made). I have never had a need to get into the running surface of any of my STVs so I don't know what material Roark used for core.

So as far as transom /knee problems .These boats will show the problem as cracking from the swell or do you have to drill to see the issue . The boats I am looking at are usually pulled out of the water but that is currently the practice after the day . You had mentioned earlier the usual cracking at the rear seating area . Up at the top or? And I suspect knee bracing was the need for digging into those areas - was that your thread on the bracing project ? Glad I have you forwarding what you know ,otherwise its just blind enthusiasm and I'm trying to slow it down- educate up and move forward and purchase well . The hull has been talked about as a rather sedate predictable super fast runner especially with the 300x . I have to say I wish it had injection still just for the convenience - does everyone rip them off .

I am/was interrested in this boat mainly for the motor that i'd like to put on my talon. the guy emailed me back saying its a 1998 model and he isnt shure of the hrs. he sent me a pic of it and said it previously had a MAD efi intake like pictured but he had the stock one re-installed. the block and everything else is painted black. I'm thinking is a regular 300 promax so I'm out. He said he cant find the serial number to confirm. just so you know.

that yellow one is VERY special (not the norm) has DBR modded 300X and would never come close to STV acceleration!!

I am not sure when it changed, but I don't think STV's have wood anymore. All composite now, I think. wouldn't want to stake my life on it.
    Anyway mine is.

Thanks for the reply back,I would I would prefer the discussion further about sommerfeld Hulls and in the Triad hull .I think the two builders ,Somerfeld being the eearlier may have had a diff, product than Glegasil.

My brochures are from 1997. STV Co, Wiggins MS.

Fall is a good time to buy. Find the best condition boat you can afford, Cougar, STV, other. There are lots of fun boats.

Can You share the brochure with email ,are you capable .Thanks love to see a bit of history and tech . Want a cougar or SVT . 19 TO 21 . KEEP ME INFORMED ,back to the brochure -90 is what I've been informing myself about and like the 19 and 21 cougar . Looking .found a nice 19 out west and 21 in Quebec - 300 evinrudeV8- 1988 vintage I suspect and super blue going on .Question the motor just don't know the product .How about an old 85 evinrude 235 horse - can these be reliable or are they just boats that need repowered and in reality they are to be passed up and wait for a merc, and do you even buy an old merc.
