Will an OMC 22 RAKER PROP WORK ON MY MERCURY 200?????

I'm very confused someone said that the 22 raker prop off my Johnson 150 would slide onto my Mercury prop shaft but I needed to do something with the threads? What do I need to do? What thrust Hub do I run the same one I ran on the OMC? What do they mean by drill the threads what prop Hardware do I use the same that was on the Johnson? What prop not Mercury or OMC?????

If you do, the engine won't start. Mercury designed it so it wont start, unless it has a QuickSilver propeller on it.

Parker, the OMC prop should slide right on...same spline count. Simply dig through your assortment of thrust washers til you find one that will barely keep the front edge of the prop hub from touching the gearcase. Don't let it get close to the gearcase. Then space out the rear of the propshaft, under the propnut, with splined, thicker, flat washer/spacer(s), to allow the propnut to snug up the assembly. No need to go crazy on propnut torque. Nice if you can end up with a Merc nut stainless star washer, to lock it in place. But the forward thrust washer thickness is the more critical concern. Keep the prop off the gearcase slightly. Check it all after running a short distance, as sometimes hubs can move. Ideally you also want to choose a thrust hub that is the right diameter, which allows the prop to ride on its metal hub, not just on the hubs rubber, or plastic insert.

Older OMC props slide right on a Mercury, but Mercury props will not slide on an OMC. This is due to the internal spline "length" difference between the two different hubs, not because of a different spline count. With the older Mercury props/prop hubs, you would use a 1" drill bit, and come in from the backside, and drill out/remove approximately 1" length of the hubs splines, to allow the prop to slide onto an OMC V-6 propshaft. All of this went away though, with the introduction of the varied assortment of customer removable hub inserts.

Your Mercury nut wont fit. You will need a thin locknut and a thin omc thrust washer

X2 on the thin nut- I ran a 22 Raker on my 150 Merc for awhile and managed to find a thin elastic stop nut in my prop box- about 1/2 the thickness of the standard Merc nut which went on fine with a thin rear washer. As an aside- compared to my 21 Tempest the 22 Raker ran 1 mph slower and was around 100 rpm lower than the 21 Tempest.

I know I'm new to the forum, but from what I have read the Merc's run slower and turn different shades of gray and yellow if an OMC prop is equipped. Just my .02

I tried it. Went and cut 1/4 off the front of the prop. Never tried it ou cause I was not happy with the spline engagement. Wanted the raker for more lift.
