    280 neutral safety switch

Been having a bug with a 280. Everything on the motor and wiring tests out perfect, grounds, fuel pressure, compression, etc. the motor runs very rich and will not spin much past 5k. I noticed that one of the 2 wires that connects to the neutral safety switch is broken off at the switch.
my question is, how would a 280 run with one of the neutral safety switch wires disconnected?

That's the shift position switch, so the ecu knows whether it's in gear or neutral. If the wires broke the ecu will assume it's in gear and it will be hard to shift along with idling a couple hundred rpm high in neutral. The neutral safety switch is in the control box/shifter.

Chummy is right. Rev limiter is different when computer thinks engine is in neutral. Think may also make shifting essier by momentary ignition interruption. And make sure you get the right one.
