    Help plug wires 220 mariner.

Is there a trick to changing plug wires on a 1987 220 mariner. I pulled one plug wire out of the coil but it doesn't look like the new wires I bought. It looks like the metal end is stuck in the coil. I tried removing it with some needle nose pliers but it wouldn't come out. Can someone help me?
